Burning Books Party

You may have heard of it, but I did not until a few minutes ago. If you have three minutes, go check this video :

It all began when a group of people wanted to raise awareness about books and public libraries and decided to create this viral campaign about a “burning book party”, which could be done with the books from the Troy Library. Voters were called to vote for the library’s finances; a tax raise was the main argument against voting for a reasonable budget that would in turn maintain the library. To counter-act this, this team decided to bring back the subject of books and reading and it did very brilliantly.

Thumbs up to this team, this is truly amazing work. As a librarian, I feel relieved that people do still care about libraries, and this short video truly warmed my heart.
